Windows98 Maintenance

First click Tools in Internet Explorer, then click Internet Options.

From there you can delete your Cookies, you should also click Delete Files (I usually check the box that says: Delete Offline Content as well).
You should also Clear History.

Also you should regularly empty the Recycle Bin, to do that just open the Recycle Bin, then click Empty Recycle Bin.

Running a Virus Scan regularly is also important, you should also make sure that your Virus Definitions are kept up to date.

Now would be a good time to reboot your computer.

When you have done that you can run Scandisk and Defrag.
