Think of yourself as a host rather than as a manager. You are there to make people feel welcome in your group and to reply to their posts.
-
Do not start too many discussions yourself; especially if no one is replying to them; there is nothing worse than a messageboard that is filled up with posts from just the manager.
-
Go to your group once a day if you can and reply to any new posts if you can.
-
Sometimes you will get unruley members, it is not allways necessary to ban them, just give them a kick up the backside
. -
Check all pages that member's can add to for inappropiate content: These can be messageboards, list pages, photo albums and documents.
-
Also check that any photos posted are not copyrighted or stealing bandwidth.
-
Also it would be a good idea to have a good disclaimer in place. Create a webpage just for disclaimer.
-
Don't make anyone an assistant manger or manager you don't know or trust. You could end up losing your entire group because of conflicts in management. It just takes one out of spite to delete your group. or mess with the boards. assistant mangers can delete message boards and webpages. So be careful.
