Repair Commands
chkdsk or chkdsk /f
In Windows XP, check for disk errors (Run the chkdsk command):
1. Click the Start button.
2. Click My Computer.
3. Hover your mouse on Local Disk, right click, and select Properties.

4. Select the tab titled Tools.
5. Under Error-Checking, Click the button titled Check Now.

6. Click Start.
In Windows XP, check the file system (Running a chkdsk /f command):
1. Click the Start button.
2. Click My Computer.
3. Hover your mouse on Local Disk, right click, and select Properties.
4. Select the tab titled Tools.
5. Under Error-Checking, Click the button titled Check Now.
6. Typically, you've received file system errors or been notified of file system errors to prompt this selection, Automatically fix file system errors, check this box.
7. Click Start.
Use the System File Checker:
1. Click the Start button, select the Run option.
2. Type sfc /scannow
3. Follow directions for repair. (You may need your installation disk for repairs.)
